I read, watched or heard, something about Chaz Bono's choice.
Really?
Seriously?
It just goes to show how out of touch and uneducated mainstream society and media really are.
Being trans isn't, nor ever was a choice. You either are or you aren't. It really is that simple.
However the choice one does have is what we can do about being Trans. That is the only choice we get.
That is when it gets complicated.
We can fight it off/smother it and try to live our life as everyone else expects us too. Much to our misery and discomfort. (This is where I believe the dysphoria aspect comes into play)
We can accept who we are and try to live our life as best we can. Sometimes this might involved fully transitioning our gender role in the public eye.
Maybe we strike a balance between two halves of our life to find some happy middle ground we can accept.
Others still simply choose to end the torment permanently . Once and for all.
Really these types of choices are really the only choices we get.
No one gets to choose if they are Asian, Gay, Black, Hispanic, Straight, Lesbian, White, etc.
These things are who we are at birth and just simply are.
What people fail to understand that is to be Trans is the same thing. It is a physical issue that we are born with that simply just is.
We do not choose to be Trans, we already are, the real choice is how to live with it
I really wish I could make the choice not to be Trans, to not have to fight my nature and who I am to let the outside world be comfortable with me.
I simply am a woman who wasn't born that way. That I have come to accept. Now it simply comes down to what I choose to do about it.
